Calgary to Montana..
Waking up to a crisp breeze, birds tweeting and a blue sky
was exactly what I wanted. Today is beautiful.
$25 and we are in the park. Currently stuck in Yellowstone traffic. Apparently there is a buffalo heard on the road, and it’s causing a major traffic jam. This is why I have decided to spend this snippet of time typing out our day thus far.

We stopped for a Chai latte and an Americano (our token
morning drinks) and enjoyed sipping them while exploring the Volcanism and
crater like landscape.
I have always wanted to go to Yellowstone National Park, and here I am! It’s such a nice feeling when you actually get to accomplish something you have been thinking about for years. That is what is so great about travel. You dream about the places you hope to get to one day, and when it happens, it’s a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. Kinda like ticking off a check-list and scratching off another destination on your bucket list. Good stuff.

We actually made it Just in time. Old Faithful was to ‘blow’
in 25mins. We didn’t even plan to get there on top it just happened. We joined
the masses on the viewing benches surrounding the World Famous Geyser. Old
Faithful. Holding my Nikon and iPhone, I positioned myself perfectly, so I
could capture a couple of still shots and produce a little video on my phone.
Ben has the little digi handheld camera. 12:00pm. The Geyser started spitting
out hot water and steam. Everyone in the crowd gasped and mumbled that is was
about to happen. I actually heard someone say ‘There she blows!’, which made me
smile. Old Faithful was just toying with us. She quieted down and made us wait
another 5mins before the big one. When it happened, it was pretty cool. Hot
boiling water and steam shot high up into the air and a warm mist sprayed the
crowd. We got the shots we wanted and felt satisfied. It was over as quick as
it started.
‘Well. There we go, we can die happy now Ben’. I smirked and Ben smiled.
We wandered over to a general store, bought some water for the road and away we went. It only took about 45mins to drive out of Yellowstone, and we were back on the main highway, destination Utah.
The sky tonight was outstanding. Pinks, oranges and purple coloured clouds scattered the evening sky. The weather system that brought us a bit of rain was moving out and the sunset was outstanding. We peeked at the map, and decided to head towards Fire Gorge National Park. Finding a place to sleep was the main goal, and it was pushing into the evening darkness. We entered the park, and it was stunning. The landscape changed again, from mountains to farm lands to decollate sandstone mines. I felt like we were on the moon at one point. The ground soil started to turn a red colour and we knew we had made it to the Park (the Park sign helped too.. ha); We found a nice campsite by a little river and lots of beautiful Willow Trees. Namely so, the site was called ‘Willows’.

Good day. Made great distances and onto Frutia, Colorado tomorrow!
