Sleeping on an air mattress is like sleeping on a water bed. Remember water beds?! My cousin Joel had a water bed when we were younger. Or wait, was it Greg? One of the brothers did. I remember thinking.. how the HELL do you sleep on this thing? Swishy-swoshy sleeping isn't for me. I require a more solid surface under me while sleeping. Either way, it was nice to sleep indoors last night - it's a nice change from sleeping in a tent or truck for 23 days. Thanks a bunch to Chris and Em! :D
Today is going to be a day of organizing. We leave for New Zealand tomorrow evening. Breakfast with Chris and Em at the Java Hut. Yummy coffee, smoothies and Acai bowls. Then we all went for a walk down the beach before we said our goodbyes. It's always hard to say goodbye to good friends.
Ben and I drove down the coastal hwy from Mission Bay to Sunset Beach. So many people surfing and enjoying the warm sunny California weather. We stopped a couple times, trying to find a place to cook and eat lunch. All the Beach State Parks charge for parking, which in my mind, seems unfair. I guess the state has to charge to for the upkeep. So, it does make sense. We finally found a place to eat, just outside of Los Angeles.
Today wasn't an entertaining day really, it's hard to write when all we have done is drive around and find somewhere to eat, sleep and organize. We ended up staying at the Days Inn by the hwy so we could get a head start in the morning to LAX to get our rental car. We were picking it up, driving to Palm Springs, unloading and storing the truck.. and then driving back to LA.
I don't have much more to say really.
